How to get Pawney
Pawney cannot be caught; you evolve it from Helmut by pulling the Sword of Bravery. Start the Journey quest Warrior (The Legend of Helmuts and Helgons) with the painter Sorora, on a cliff in the Russet Highlands. Near the top of the mountain, Twine with a Helmut, shatter the Dragonclaw Stone and pull the sword: the Helmut you are with evolves into Pawney on the spot. After that, your other Helmuts can evolve at level 45 for three Night Stones.
How to get it
- During the main quest Ancient Sacred Fragrance, follow Playful Helmut and Romping Helmut to the painter Sorora, on a cliff in the Russet Highlands, and start Warrior (The Legend of Helmuts and Helgons).
- Talk to the Weeping Helmut.
- Head up the mountain: talk to the Hiding Helmut, then check the marks on the ground by the exhausted Helmut.
- Twine with a Helmut and shatter the Dragonclaw Stone to uncover the Sword of Bravery.
- Pull the sword out. The Helmut you are Twined with evolves into Pawney, whatever its level.
- Beat the level 50 Infergon that follows, gather a Flame Flower and a Flame Flower Root, and report back to Sorora.

Evolving more Pawney
Once the sword is out, any Helmut can evolve into Pawney at level 45 for three Night Stones.
Regional Helmuts become their own Pawney: a Mountain Woods Helmut becomes a Mountain Woods Pawney.
The level 50 Infergon
The quest ends with a fight against a level 50 Infergon. It is a story battle, separate from the weekly Omega Infergon. Bring Water or Rock, which both hit it hard.
