Exploration tier list
The best explorers are the Aniimo that reach places nothing else can. Flyers at level 2 and 3, such as Cornet, Tromber and Somniwing, take off from the ground. Celestis glides and climbs, and Blazen climbs at level 3. Budclaw's Tunnel breaks the rocks that block paths, and Emberpup burns vines off chests and caves. Next come puzzle keys, the Aniimo that solve puzzles, like Jawling, Magmarex and Dewy. Last come the Aniimo that only make you faster.

| Reach new ground | Budclaw, Shrubclaw, Geoclaw, Pebbling, Geodeback and Minespine | Tunnel. Budclaw's breaks the rocks that block paths and hide chests. |
| Reach new ground | Emberpup | Aim throws fireballs by hand, which burn vines off chests and cave entrances. |
| Puzzle keys | Jawling | The Bilateral Vision Idol needs it to reveal and assemble the pieces. |
| Puzzle keys | Magmarex | Smashes Lava Crystals. Its Fast and Furious also knocks away some obstacles. |
| Puzzle keys | Dewy | Gather Aromathyst needs it to collect the glowing flowers in time. |
| Puzzle keys | Cubbo and Grizbo | Head Hammer launches a shockwave, the hit the Parasol Pine puzzle asks for. |
| Puzzle keys | Pawney | Hookshot pulls you to walls you aim at. |
| Puzzle keys | Bulbly, Veilfloat, Luminelle and Hexxin | Light up dark places: Glow from above, Hexxin's seeds where they land. |
| Puzzle keys | Helmut and Rookey | Detection shows metal objects and cloaked Aniimo nearby. |
| Faster or harder to see | Emberpup, Flameruff, Scorchhowl, Inferlupa, Bonesky, Fenrier, Glynsera, Helion, Lunara, Baleetle and Waleetle | Hustle trades stamina for speed, handy for timed chases like Runaway Amber. |
| Faster or harder to see | Turbo, Nimbi, Bolty and Blazen | Cloudwalk floats among the clouds; Puff Up and High Jump jump higher. |
| Faster or harder to see | Fentuft, Fenmane and Magmarex | Scurry rushes forward; Fast and Furious raises speed. |
| Faster or harder to see | Wisptis, Ignitis, Fulmintis, Flutternym and Gracewing | Cloak and Luminous Prowl turn them invisible. |
We ranked each Aniimo by what it lets you do that you can't do without it. Speed is useful. But without a flyer or a rock breaker, there's ground you can't reach at all.

Your Explore tab
Aniimo management has two tabs, Combat and Explore. The Explore tab has three slots: Climb, Fly and Swim. Put one Aniimo in each.
You don't have to Twine with them yourself. When you climb, fly or swim, the game brings in the Aniimo from that slot, even if it's in storage. If you're already Twined with an Aniimo that can do it, the game uses that one first.
You can swim on your own, without an Aniimo. You can't climb or fly without one.
Who to put in each slot
| Slot | Highest level | Also has it |
|---|---|---|
| Climb | Blazen, level 3 | Bolty and Squashel at level 2, Celestis and Squarrel at level 1 |
| Fly | Level 2 or 3, such as Cornet and Tromber | Celestis at level 1, which can only fly once you're already in the air |
| Swim | Piopiota, level 3 | Erlath, Glacy, Leafy and Pranky at level 2, and Fahloo, Panpanta, Popota, Skippy and Susuta at level 1 |

Catch Celestis first. It lives in Nimbus Fields, the first area, and it can both fly and climb.
