Trail of Butterfly Shadows
The short version
Trail of Butterfly Shadows is the opening chapter of the Legendary Journey, from September 16 to 25. You collect Irisalis Petals by exploring Breezy Plains and playing the story. Petals pay out milestone rewards and go toward crafting the Legendary Aniipod that opens the encounter with Irisalis, the season's Legendary.
The developers explained the flow in their pre-launch letter: gather Legendary tokens through exploration and story, craft your own Legendary Aniipod, and the encounter then appears on the map. It happens only once, so be ready before you use the pod.

How to take part
- Open the Legendary Journey tab in the Events menu.
- Collect Irisalis Petals while exploring Breezy Plains and playing the story. The main quest The Land Where Dreams Come True gives two.
- Craft the Legendary Aniipod once you have enough petals. The encounter then appears on the map.

- Irisalis Petals, which craft the Legendary Aniipod
- Petal milestones at 20, 40, 60 and 80 petals pay a crystal currency
Tips
- The Irisalis encounter happens only once. Prepare your team before you use the pod.
- The September 18 patch fixed terrain that could block collecting Butterfly Shadows in The Land Where Dreams Come True.
- Only this chapter ends on September 25. The Legendary Journey tab itself runs until December 9.

Collect Irisalis Petals during the Legendary Journey, craft the Legendary Aniipod, then find the encounter on the map, defeat Irisalis and throw the pod. The encounter happens only once.
