Playing with friends

Up to four players can share a world. Add friends by UID from the Friends menu, which opens once you reach Student I, then invite them into Companion Mode to explore together or form a Party for Sanctums and bosses. Everyone must be on the same server, but platforms can mix. You can trade Aniimo through the Aniimo Exchange once your friendship is high enough, and there is no ranked PvP at launch.
Add a friend and play together
- Reach Student I by catching Alpha Turbo in Chasing the Clouds. Friends and Party appear in the menu.
- Copy your UID from under your name in the menu and share it.
- Open Friends, then Add Friends, and search by nickname or UID.
- Invite your friend. Whoever invites first hosts, and the world is the host's.
- For Sanctums and bosses, open Party, choose Create Party, pick a challenge, invite friends and press Challenge.
Group sizes
| Mode | Players |
|---|---|
| Companion Mode, exploring together | Up to 4 |
| Party challenges such as Sanctums and Alphas | Up to 4, some fewer |
| Operation: Egg Heist | 1 to 3 |
Rules to know
- Friends must be on the same server; platforms can mix.
- Main story quests are solo only, and you cannot advance your story in someone else's world.
- Progress made together saves to the host's world.
- You do not meet strangers in the open world unless you invite them; shared spaces such as Astra, Outposts, campfires and RV parks show other players.
- Since the 18 September patch, Auto Voice is off by default in the chat settings.
Trading and gifting
Trading is in the game as the Aniimo Exchange. You must be friends, be Companions and have raised your Affinity to at least Good Friend, and you can trade five times a day. The exchange button sends a Companion invite first.
You can also give an Aniimo away in Companion Mode, which unlocks the achievement A Buddy for My Buddy.
Raising Affinity each day
| Action | Affinity |
|---|---|
| Private chat | Up to 20 |
| Interaction gestures | Up to 20 |
| Visit their Home | Up to 20 |
| Explore or fight together | 40 |
| Defeat an Alpha or Omega together | Up to 60 |
Gifts are limited to five a week, and the achievement Hearts in Tune needs Bond level 5 with a friend.
PvP
There is no ranked PvP mode at launch. You can duel other players, and Operation: Egg Heist is a PvPvE mode. The developers say PvP event modes will keep being refined.
Not confirmed yet
- The Affinity needed for each friendship rank below the top one.
- Whether a ranked PvP mode is coming, and when.
